Prayer in the Dark

I won’t tell you I’m God fearing nor a man of faith.

Oddity or omen, I drove along damp black top and slowed to a crawl to gaze upon a overturned car.

A godless man, I still muttered..Heaven help them.

A float in your doubts, Haven’t you been there?

Praying into the dark for people that you don’t know.
Even the lost and broken hope God exists, for the benefit of a soul in limbo.

Hardened as we are it’s not the threat of the fire that makes us plead for divinity its empathy if not love.
Thus exists as proof we are good at heart and deserving of God’s mercy.
